CRAZY HOUR

I've had crazy days before (and plenty of them), and I've had to deal with crazy student medical issues (student taken out by ambulance!), but I've never had such a crazy hour before!  Today was just crazy!  Check it out:

11:15am pick up students from cafeteria and take to restroom before heading to recess

11:20am three boys decide to have a spitting contest on the restroom floor (even though I am standing by the entrance!)

11:25am  asthmatic student complains his chest hurts and then vomits all over hallway (off to nurse, and then home!)

11:30am go to playground for 15 minutes

11:40am student jumps from high point on playground.  He walks over to me with blood gushing from his nose.  I tell him to sit down so I can check him out, and I notice his arm is bent at a very odd angle.  I called the school nurse to meet us at the playground, then called mom to meet us at the nurse's office!  Mom took him to the ER, and it turns out he broke both bones in that arm, had to have surgery, and is now in a cast.

11:50am  diabetic student needs to see the nurse for blood sugar check

12:00pm a student finds a live louse in her hair, picks it out, and shows me (off to nurse, and then home!)

12:15 diabetic student back to nurse for check

I'm pretty sure the nurse doesn't want to see me or any of my students tomorrow, or the rest of this week!  I am so very grateful that we have a full-time school nurse!  She is simply awesome!

The most surprising thing about all of this craziness, is that it's not even a full moon!!  Let's hope tomorrow is a much better day with no medical emergencies!
